Turfgrass Quick Facts: Buffalograss (Buchloe dactyloides)

 

Buffalograss is a popular drought tolerant native sod forming turfgrass for low traffic areas.  It is relatively short in height and left unmowed has an interesting natural appearance.

  • Native warm season bunch grass
  • Cold tolerant
  • Drought tolerant
  • Can be left unmowed for interesting texture
  • Gray green leaf color
  • Does not tolerate traffic well
